It’s like having your own AR department, without the payroll expense.

Whether your Seattle, WA, home experiences fire, water or mold damage, you know you can't adequately handle the cleanup on your own. That is why you should rely on an experienced restoration company to help clean up after a disaster strikes. Here are three questions you should ask when choosing a restoration service.

1. Are They Highly Equipped?

While interviewing services, you want to ensure that they have the proper equipment to do the job. Do they have large industrial fans to quickly dry everything out after you experience water damage? Do they have ozone cleaners to clean the air of harmful smoke particles after fire damage to your home? Just having highly trained workers using specialized cleaners isn't enough. The company you choose also needs state-of-the-art equipment to ensure they do the job correctly.

2. Do They Have a Current License and Insurance?

Most states require that only trained and licensed companies work on hazardous sites. When talking to the representative of the restoration company, ask for proof of their licensing and insurance. Never simply take their word for it.  Working with a company with current licensing and insurance means you're protecting yourself from further liabilities. If the company does something against code in your area and doesn't have insurance, you could be on the hook to pay for the damages if they refuse.

3. Do They Have a Good Reputation?

When looking for a professional restoration company, do online research to see how others felt when working with them. Check reviews on multiple different sites to ensure you get the best possible picture of how people feel about the company. It's also helpful to see if they are a big part of the community. Do they take the time to participate in community activities, or do they mostly keep to themselves.

Dealing with a disaster in your home can be a hard thing to deal with. However, when you take the time - and ask the right questions - to choose a good cleanup service, you'll find things are much easier to handle.
